Hello there, welcome to Daynadream!
Today's blog post is going to be shorter than usual. Yay for you! joke haha.
Recently I've been getting pretty cranky from all the staying at home and not really doing much... actively, speaking. To my frustration, I wanted so bad to go somewhere where there was a solid good dosage of fresh air to recuperate and restart the ol' noggin'. To the point that by the time I could get up from bed easily without much pain from the stitches on my abdomen, I immediately went to my boyfriend and asked if I could join him to his trip to the mountains (where he works). Though taking into consideration my bodily situation (i don't think that's a term hah), It made me a bit indecisive in going and there was this little tug-of -war in my head. Eventually the pros of the idea of being in the mountains where there's so much beauty and nature and freshness was so appetizing to my inner psyche. I wore my jeans, grabbed a few supplies and my wallet then went with.
It was a road which we have traveled upon so many many times. In the span of a week, he'd pass that direction around 3 times minimum. I've tagged along a couple of times and it's really familiar. Though familiarity may seem in play, it never shakes that feeling of pleasure in my eager anticipation for what comes next down the road.
Unlike most car rides, I'm usually quiet when passing this direction. Too pretty to speak... the scenery I mean.
(From left: Me, My best friend, my boyfriend)
It was a 30 minute drive, not too far since this is the Philippines after all. It's a time frame in which at the moment, I wish for it to be longer. For the scenery to last longer, for the company to last longer.
I sometimes feel envious about all the locals here. Seeing where they live and how simple life is, straightforward. I wish it was like that in the city. No matter what happens, I always see the locals smiling. I love that, I want that, I will do that.
In the end, I was glad that I came along on this short "road trip". I advise that whenever you're feeling choked, stressed, caged and or hindered from what you want to do in life, take a trip to the mountains, to nature to somewhere that even if it's familiar already, just do it. It allows you to learn to appreciate life and your surrounding way more than you could really do in the city. Just go. It doesn't have to be a road less traveled, just a road to wellness.

Hey there, welcome to Daynadream!
In light of all the healthy eating and smoothie-making, I've decided to give myself a bit of a treat and went out for a good ol' cheat meal. I thought, with my never-ending appetite at the moment which strangely I've gotten only ever since the surgery, I wanted to eat something comforting, heavy and of course, scrumptious.
While having in mind, spareribs with unli rice and cucumber iced tea, I saw this one restaurant that I haven't even tried yet. Army Navy.
I never really thought of eating here before as I seldom visit this place. It's well known for mainly 3 products:
1. Fearless Fried Chicken
2. Libertea
3. BURGERS
I cannot stress any further, this place is known for the burgers.
Once you enter, there's this super nice atmosphere and with the interior consisting of white brick finishing with some wooden accents and tin lamps with an orangey white lighting. Kind of like a sailor-vibe.
We were absolutely famished so we immediately ordered food as soon as we got in there. The smell of the food being prepared and cooked to perfection was absolute torture for our hungry souls.
The food arrived after about 10-15 minutes. So i suggest if you're starving and your consumables take long, visit a store or two, watch a video on your phone or even have a nice conversation if you have company.
When the food arrived, it was like heaven! I ordered the classic 'Burger' with added bacon and cheese plus a side of homemade fries and iced tea. The burger came wrapped in tin foil, reasons for which i do not know. The anticipation of opening that tinfoil was so exciting!
And once opened, lo and behold! A beautiful, colorful, vibrant burger awaited.
Sooo glorious!
Dissecting each aspect of the meal:
1. Burger- There was a nice juicy to freshness ratio between the meat and the vegetables. The meat itself is cooked on a griddle and has a mellow sweet and tangy taste to it. The vegetables used were definitely fresh as there were no soggy bits. The bacon was cooked to absolute perfection and all the flavors just really complemented each other. Oh! and then buns were not to bun-ny if you know what i mean.
2. Fries- Thin cut. Not too crispy but not soggy, just the right amount of each aspect. And the best part, it tastes like McDonalds twister fries!! I absolutely love twister fries but never really get to eat them since here in the Philippines, they're limited edition and only come out once in a while.
3. Iced Tea- Also called 'Libertea'. Is not as sweet compared to other restaurants that serve that classic Filipino iced tea. This one has a tad bitterness to it. Served with ice and very much cold. Who doesn't love a good word play? haha.
As you can see here, the meal was left to nothingness as devoured by my inner beast hahaha what a way to put it.
My boyfriend ordered the Fearless Fried Chicken and to be honest, it was quite delicious. The flavor of it was different and more on the peppery spiced side rather than the cliche buttermilk fried chicken that you see in other restaurants. The meat was a wee bit tough though but perhaps it wasn't the better serving of the day.
Over all, I found the experience to be quite fun (all those word plays haha). The price range goes from PHP 170-250 ($3.00- $5.00) per person. In the philippines, let alone Bacolod city, it's a little pricey but I find the portions and the quality of food to balance out that pricing just fine. And if you're looking for a place with good comfort food for the soul, I highly recommend 'Army Navy' as the food hits home just right.
Then again, that's just my opinion.

Hey there, welcome to daynadream!
Healing and recovery or perhaps even coping from an event in your life that you've been through whether it be physical, emotional, mental and such, can be very difficult. It may cause emotional stress, mental stress, self-pity and others. So in lieu of this, we need to have the proper tools to create our weapons of mass transitioning. By weapons of mass transitioning, I mean along the lines of:
"creating a certain habit or activity in which will assist a person in conquering whatever rough experience they're having."
In my case,
Being a dancer and all, having time off for a few months of strenuous activity to recover from the surgery I had is brutal news. The idea of being bed-ridden or "under house arrest" for a while made me cringe (I'm an outdoorsy person). But citing myself from the previous blogpost, rather than "reacting against the situation" I "reacted towards it", changed my perspective in all.
This, in turn, allowed me to think of so many things I could do to be productive to myself. So, I started with smoothies!
You may think that, "How are smoothies being productive to oneself?" Well, when you're feeding your body the fuel it needs and the most optimum grade at that, you are being productive to yourself by taking care of your body for the long term effects; which creates a ripple effect of you becoming a prime and energized human with much work efficiency in the long run.
Very much productive.
So I smoothied. Everyday.
It wasn't anything difficult. I didn't use any recipe other than the whole 60/40. 60% veg and dark leafy greens then 40% fruit and liquid.
That's pretty much all the guiding you'll need and then just utilise the guide to be creative with your smoothies.
It may seem unappetizing when you've never really encountered a green smoothie and trust me, some of the stuff I made was really weird... drank it anyway. But the end goal here is to give your body the love that it needs. Plus, if you combine just the right type of fruits with the right type of veg, the outcome can be absolutely fantastic!
I combined some fruits that are locally available here in the Philippines. And just so you know, a dragon fruit and mango combination is the bomb!
The full recipe of my favorite smoothie I made so far will be following this post, have a go at it if your being experimental and or transitioning your body out of a rough patch because,
With the proper use of the appropriate weapon, any battle can be won.
